( Los Angeles Business Journal) Kilroy Realty Corp. said Monday that its operating partnership will offer $150 million in senior debt in a private placement to institutional buyers.
The Los Angeles real estate investment trust said the exchangeable senior unsecured notes from Kilroy Realty L.P. will be due 2014. The interest and exchange rates and other terms will be determined in negotiations between the company, operating partnership and initial purchasers. (The Los Angeles Business Journal) One-third of L.A. County businesses anticipate cutting their payrolls next year, more than double the 14 percent rate for the current year, according to a business survey released Tuesday.The findings by the Los Angeles County Business Federation survey come even as Los Angeles County’s unemployment rate jumped in September to a modern record high of 12.7 percent amid the recession.

(Los Angeles Business Journal) L.A. County’s unemployment rate jumped in September to yet another modern record high of 12.7 percent as the county’s tourism and film industries took significant job hits.September’s 12.7 percent unemployment rate was up from 12.2 percent in August and 8.3 percent in September 2008; over the past year, more than 210,000 county residents have joined the ranks of the unemployed.
Statewide, the unemployment rate was 12.2 percent in September, down slightly from 12.3 percent in August but up from 7.8 percent a year ago. Nationally, the unemployment rate hit 9.8 percent in September.
